The idea in this project reinterprets in a contemporary way the elements that have characterized the history of Manhattan. A clear reference is made to the George Washington bridge that connects Manhattan and New Jersey, it is referred to in the design of the structural spans that characterize the support system of the building. The materials used – steel, solid wood, wood and glass, in addition to terracotta – represent a design gesture aimed at the search for an ecofriendly component of the building also implemented by the green paths surrounding the building, a useful filter that channels natural light towards the inland. The basketball court, placed in a central position, becomes the fulcrum of the internal layout in which all the paths are designed to improve the fruition experience. The fluid design of the external volume recalls the signs of basketballs, a figurative reminder that gives recognition to the building.
